What does "Polygraph" mean
The Term “Polygraph” literally means “many writings”. The name refers to the manner in which selected physiological activities are simultaneously recorded.
A Polygraph instrument will collect physiological data from three systems in the human body. The entire Polygraph Examination takes approxiamately 2.5 hours. First there is a pre test phase where the examinee's background and case and/or incident information is gathered and the examinee is informed as to the process and conditions of the Polygraph Examination. Second, is the chart recording phase is where the Polygraph Instrument collects and records physiological data from 3 systems in the body. And lastly, is the scoring and chart interpretation phase.
What to Expect on the Test
The Examiners at HNS Polygraph know that EVERY Examinee is nervous. Here is how the Examiners look at each person's nervousness:
A truthful person may be nervous because he/she is afraid of the unknown
An untruthful person may be nervous because he/she is afraid of what he knows to be true
In addition, you must remember that:
Nervousness, on the Polygraph recordings, DOES NOT look like deception to the Polygraph Examiner
Nervousness, DOES NOT prevent the Examiner from distinguishing between truth and untruth.
Termination of a Polygraph Examination
At any time or phase of the Polygraph Examination, an examinee can terminate the test by telling the examiner that he/she does not wish to continue with the test. In this case the fees payable for the test are not refundable.
Instrumentation
HNS Polygraph is using the latest available computer technology in the hands of a qualified Forensic Psycho physiologist to determine the truthfulness of a person’s statement(s).
Who Gets the Results of the Examination
Polygraph test results can only be given to the examinee or anyone specifically designated in writing by the examinee, such as, person(s), firms, corporation or government agency who requested the examination.
